Acacia Senegal Gum

Senegalia senegal is a small thorny deciduous tree from the genus Senegalia, which is known by several common names, including Gum acacia, Gum arabic tree, Sudan gum and Sudan gum arabic. Acacia Senegal Gum is also responsible for its anti-inflammatory activity, an added benefit especially in anti-aging skin care products.

Acai Berries Oil

Acai berries are gathered by hand from protected regions of the Amazon rainforest and then cold pressed to yield the freshest, purest oil possible. This oil is mainly composed of anthocyanins (water-soluble pigment), phytosterols and essential fatty acids (EFA). Widely used as an anti-ageing agent due to its phytosterol content: that stimulates the metabolism of cells and reduces inflammation. Anthocyanins are present in high amounts. They are responsible for its colour and antioxidant properties. The seeds and pulp of Acai berries have been used for centuries by the natives of Brazil for their unmatched healing and nutritional properties. The Acai berry abounds in essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, Omega 6, and Omega 9.

Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract

Derived from the sugar maple tree, this extract is a source of natural alpha hydroxy acid which slough off dead skin cells to improve skin's appearance.

Aloe Vera Juice Extract - Organic

(Aloe barbadensis) - is part of succulent family, grows wild in tropical climates around the world and is cultivated for agriculture and medicinal uses. Aloe Vera’s therapeutic properties are known from ancient times. Ancient Egyptians called it as the ‘plant of immortality’.

Active compounds found in Aloe Vera – amino acids, enzymes, hormones, salicylic acid, saponins, sterols, vitamins A(beta-carotene), B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, E, minerals calcium, chrome, copper, iron, magnesium and others, polysaccharides and anthraquinones – provide its antiseptic, antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antioxidant properties.

What it does:

Moisturising – deeply moistures the skin without making it greasy and clogging the pores, hydrates and softens the skin. Ideal also for aftershave treatment.

Anti-aging protection – provides defence against free radicals, promotes new collagen production, tones and tightens the skin.

Antibacterial CO2 Extract

Salvia Triloba (Sage) Leaf Extract, and Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, and Curcuma Xanthorrhiza Root Extract, and Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Cone Extract, and Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, and Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, and Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, and Trachyspermum Ammi (Ajowain) Fruit Extract - This is a CO2 extract and a natural and food grade preservative free of any solvent or heavy metal residues and effective at a very low dosage as a stand-alone preservative or a co-preservative. The product is a dark-brown and high viscosity liquid and is a mixture of the extracts from Ajowain seeds, Oregano leaves, Clove buds, Curcuma Xanthorriza roots, Licorice roots, Hop cones and Sage leaves.

Apple Fruit Extract

Vitamin rich. It contains a high level of Vitamin C, polyphenols and a wide array of trace minerals. Acidic apple extract helps to protect the skin from free radical damage which in turn helps to slow the signs of aging, hydrate and plump skin

Apricot Kernel Oil - Organic

Is extracted from seeds of the Apricot (Prunus armeniaca). The oil can be obtained from kernels using solvent extraction, or cold pressed It is a light oil and is suitable for those with sensitive skin as well.

Apricot kernel oil contains higher levels of total phytosterols, tocopherols and b-carotene. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and considered a very light and nourishing oil, that is recommended for all skin types. Due to its polyphenols content, it has photoprotective effects, improves skin elasticity and tones. It also improves collagen retention and production, diminishing signs of aging and soothes sensitive skin.

Aracaidyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Glucoside, Aqua

Argan Oil - Organic

Argan oil is derived from the nuts of the argan tree. The fruit of the tree is green and resembles an olive, but is larger. Inside, there is a hard-shelled nut which can contain up to three kernels from which the argan oil is then extracted. The traditional production of this oil is demanding, it takes about 100kg of fruits to make just 2-3 litres of oil. Traditionally, Argan oil was used extensively in Morocco as a topical oil to treat dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles, joint pain, and skin inflammation. It is also used to prevent hair loss and dry hair. 

Argan oil is rich in Omega-6 fatty acid, which means it helps with skin rejuvenation and skin elasticity. Many of argan oil's specific health benefits are attributed to its composition of unsaponifiable matter (1% of total concentration) and high tocopherol content. It is used in products for mature skin but is said to be effective in eye care products as well. It is easily absorbed into the skin and has strong anti-inflammatory properties. The oil performs anti-sebum activity, reducing greasiness and improving appearance of oily facial skin.

Avocado Oil - Organic

Traditionally, Mexicans and South Americans have used the mashed fruit pulp as protection against the elements. The avocado pulp usually contains around 15-40% oil,  but the extraction must happen when the pulp is dried out otherwise it would emulsify. Rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E, and Beta carotene. It is a mild yet nourishing oil that is often used on fry, mature, tired or lacklustre skin. It is especially beneficial for people living in the northern hemisphere where vitamin D is restricted due to less sunlight.

What it does:

It is rich in antioxidants and soothes dry and itchy skin. Include in products for eczema prone skin as well as psoriasis prone skin where it can deeply moisturise and give relief. Has good healing properties due to the vitamin K and potassium content. Very nourishing and improves the health of the scalp keeping it more flexible. This can help to improve hair growth. Baobab Oil - Organic

Baobab oil is extracted from the seeds of the Adansonia tree. It is one of the most prominent oils from Africa, the tree is very unusual as it looks like it is growing roots upwards. This is why it it is often called the upside-down tree. Baobab oil is thick and nutritious. 

The Baobab tree is often referred to as the 'Tree of Life' and its unique profile filled with Antioxidants, Vitamin A, D, E & F. Baobab seed oil is regarded as a potentially therapeutic ingredient for acne treatment, due to its linoleic acid content. The application of linoleic acid for oily and problematic skin may result in improved sebaceous gland function and the prevention of acne formation. Due to its high saturated and unsaturated fatty acid content, Baobab oil is considered an excellent oil to improve the skin barrier function, by preventing reduced TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss) that occurs as a result of an impaired barrier. Bentonite Clay

Formed from volcanic ash. The name of the clay comes from the biggest deposit of Bentonite clay that is located in Benton Shale near Rock River, Wyoming, USA. Bentonite clay is rich in minerals including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, cooper, iron and potassium and is a common ingredient in detox and cleansing products.

The first recorded use of medicinal clay is on Mesopotamian clay tablets. Also ancient Egyptians used clay as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agent, but legendary Cleopatra made clay applications to preserve her beauty. Throughout centuries clay has been used to treat different skin issues and to purify the body.

Is the primary constituent of German Chamomile essential oil however, another good source is the Candeia tree. It is soothing and calming and helps other ingredients that it is combined wiith to penetrate the skin better. Bisabolol is soothing and has anti-redness properties.

Blackkurrant Seed Oil

Obtained from seeds of the blackcurrant. It is a rich source of gamma linolenic acid, GLA, along with other important polyunsaturated fatty acids. Fatty acids are involved in many body functions, such as maintaining body temperature, insulating nerves, cushioning and protecting tissues and creating energy. It contains an unusually high amount of omega-6 as well as a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids.

It also contains linoleic acid as well as 2–4 percent stearidonic acid. Black Currant oil contains up to 15% GLA. The oil is a very potent antioxidant. It is an anti-dermatitis, anti-inflammation and anti-acne oil that help to keep minor skin problems at bay by fighting bacteria. A hydrating and skin loving oil Blackcurrant seed oil provides skin with an essential vitamin boost, nourishing it with plant goodness both inside and out.

Broccoli Seed Oil - Organic

A very yellow to dark golden oily liquid that has been cold pressed from the seeds of the organic broccoli plant. A multipurpose oil for skin and hair that has exceptionally high levels of Erucic Acid which acts and feels like a natural silicone. Sinks into the skin very easily and gives the skin a natural glow.

Cacao Butter - Organic

Cacao seeds or beans are obtained from the fruit of cacao tree (Theobroma cacao), native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. It has been cultivated from ancient times, probably for the fruit pulp that surrounds the cacao beans to produce the fermented mild alcoholic beverage that was consumed in spiritual ceremonies by the ancient Olmec and Maya civilizations. The Aztecs used cacao beans to make thick spicy chocolate-like drink. Today cacao trees are grown in tropical climates around the world, nearly two-thirds of the world crop comes from West Africa.

Cacao Seed Butter is extracted from whole cacao beans which are fermented, roasted and then separated from their hulls. Beside production of chocolate, cacao butter is widely used in skincare industry and pharmaceuticals. Cacay Oil

Cacay Oil is the oil expressed from the seeds of Caryodendron Orinocense. Cacay Oil is extremely rich in Vitamin A (even more so that Rose Hip Oil), Linoleic Acid (higher content than Argan Oil) and Vitamin E (double that in Argan Oil), making it the latest “miracle” oil. 

The cultivation and harvesting of the Cacay nuts is helping to improve the lives of low-income families in the Amazon Regions of South America. Families are gathering the nuts which have fallen from trees or planting their own trees to harvest and sell the nuts. While at present this is only a small supplement to their income as popularity of this oil increases so will their income. After the oil has been extracted from the Cacay nut the nutrient-rich meat is ground into flour, the inner peel is added to cattle feed or used as a fertilizer and the outer shell burns extremely hot so is ideal for heating purposes where very high temperatures are needed.

Calendula Flower Co2 extract - Organic

This is a carotenoid containing extract with the lovely orange-yellow carotenoid colour. The extract contains 1,4% essential oils, 0,86% carotenoids and 21% anti-inflammatory faradiol esters.

Calendula Oil - Organic

Calendula that is also known as marigold is an herbaceous plant in the daisy family Asteraceae, native to southwestern Asia, south Europe and the Mediterranean. The beautiful orange flower is the “herb of the Sun”, it opens the flower in the morning and closes when the sun goes down. It symbolises love and constancy being sacred flower in many cultures.

Calendula is one of the most used herbs in traditional medicine both externally and internally. Camelina sativa is a flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae and is usually known in English ... Over 50% of the fatty acids in cold-pressed camelina oil are polyunsaturated. The oil is also very rich in natural antioxidants, such as tocopherols is shown to act as a good skin moisturizer.

What it does:

The vitamin E and omega oils help to improve skin tone and prevent free radical damage, great antioxidant helping to reduce the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Camelina has excellent emollient, cardiotonic, hypotensive, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, hydrating and moisturising properties. When used during pregnancy, stretch marks are far less likely to form. Can also help diminish existing stretch marks and other scars.

Camellia Oil - Organic

Comes from a shrub (or a small tree), which is the source of an edible oil. It is also known as Tea oil, but do not confuse it with tea tree oil. Apparently, the blossoming camellia tree is very beautiful. It is widely used in skin care to nourish and soothe the skin, as well as help restore skin’s elasticity. Camellia japonica oil possesses a variety of biological activities, including antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides

Highly saturated, containing medium chain triglycerides. It has a high content of lauric acid, which is reported to have anti-microbial activity. Lauric acid is widely studied in the treatment of acne with promising results.

Caprylic/capric triglyceride. Derived from coconut oil and glycerin, it's considered an excellent emollient and skin-replenishing ingredient. It's included in cosmetics due to its mix of fatty acids that skin can use to replenish its surface and resist moisture loss.

Chamomile water - Organic

Chamomile is the white daisy like flower of Asteraceae family, native to Europe, northern Africa and northwest Asia. Its therapeutic properties are known from ancient time. The Egyptians dedicated the herb to the sun and worshipped it for its healing power. Now chamomile is cultivated worldwide. Traditionally it has been used as a treatment for fever, colds, stomach ailments, as a sleeping aid and remedy for skin issues.

Active compounds present in chamomile such as apigenin and bisabolol, terpenoids, flavonoids, coumarins, phenylpropanoids, flavones, flavanols and polyacetylenes provide the plant’s healing properties with antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antiallergenic, anticancer, anticoagulant action.

What it does:

Soothes skin irritations, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis.

Treats minor cuts and wounds, burns and sunburn, reduces inflammation and accelerates healing process.

Soothes tired, irritated eyes and may help cure conjunctivitis.

Cleanses the skin, helps to lighten complexion, tightens pores, gives skin a healthy radiant glow.

Chelating Agent

The salt form of the corn-derived plant component phytic acid. Any of numerous ingredients that bind with metal ions or metallic compounds, preventing them from adhering to a surface (such as skin, hair, or clothing) or causing contamination, such as in the case of trace amounts of iron.

Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract

Orange extract is a natural astringent with powerful antibacterial and toning properties. It is also used for its uplifting citrus aroma and natural source of the antioxidant vitamin C.

Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit extract

Lemon extract reverses the damage and prevents it. One of the main ingredients of lemon extract is citric acid, which has been found effective against a number of skin problems such as acne. It is because of the presence of vitamin C in this citrus fruit that promotes healthy, glowing skin

CO Q10

Your body naturally makes the antioxidant coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) to zap free radicals in cells. As you age, you make less. That may make skin cells more vulnerable to damage.

What it does:

Study shows that CoQ10 helps reduce crow's feet, or the wrinkles around the eyes.

The loss of collagen and elastin causes your skin to wrinkle and sag. CoQ10 also helps the skin by acting as a strong antioxidant. It helps to neutralize the harmful free radicals that are one of the major causes of aging. Thus, the age-related decline in CoQ10 also your skin is more prone to damage by free radicals.

Coco Glucoside

Derived from natural sources such as coconut and fruit sugars, this surfactant is sulphate-free, non-ionic and non-irritating. Coco glucoside acts as a wonderful foaming agent, creating a smooth, luxurious lather, designed for sensitive skin as it is both gentle and mild. Coco glucoside does not dry our or irritate the skin.

Coconut Oil

Extracted from the meat of the coconut, from the coconut  tree.  It is colourless when liquid, pale white when solid, it has a low melting point at 24ºC. Coconut oil is highly saturated, containing medium chain triglycerides. It has a high content of lauric acid, which is reported to have anti-microbial activity. Lauric acid is widely studied in the treatment of acne with promising results.

Coconut oil has a high resistance to oxidation.

What it does:

It has moisturising effect, with occlusive and emollient properties and barrier function improvement, and presents antibacterial properties.

Hydrates skin for 24 hours and helps to improve skin elasticity and collagen production. Has anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A, which help to slow down the aging process and may help to reduce the damage from free radicals and the sun.

Cranberry Fruit Extract

Used for anti-aging, as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and anti-bacterial and also contain vitamin C as well as tannins.

Cucumber Fruit Extract - Organic

Cucumber is a green lush vegetable, actually fruit that grows on vines of cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus) of the gourd family. Cucumbers originate in India and have been cultivated for at least 3000 years. Introduced in Europe by the Greeks or Romans. The Roman emperor Tiberius was especially greedy for cucumbers; he demanded to have them on his table every day, summer and winter.

Today cucumber is one of the most widely cultivated vegetable in the world. Its refreshing pleasant taste suits many dishes, besides it offers many health benefits to the body. Cucumber consists mainly of water (95%), and is a good source of vitamin C and vitamin K, rich in potassium and magnesium.

What it does:

Cucumber hydrates and detoxifies the body, balances blood pressure, reduces bad cholesterol level, fights inflammations and protects brain health. Cucumber also is high in sulphur and silicon that helps clear the skin, strengthens nails and promotes hair growth, making us beautiful from inside out.

It hydrates and softens skin, refreshes and revitalizes, diminishes pores, clarifies and improves complexion, cools and soothes sunburns.

Cucumber Seed Oil

A clear yellow, thin oil with very little aroma that is pressed from the cleaned and dried seeds of cucumbers. The seeds yield up to 50% oil. It is then filtered to give a very clear oil with a light cucumber aroma.

This oil is considered to have the following properties: emollient, anti-ageing, anthelmintic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, demulcent, diuretic, febrifuge, purgative, vermifuge. Cucumber Oil is known for its cooling and refreshing effects and is high in mineral content, making it a valuable source of potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulphur, silicone, chlorine and fluorine.

Cupuacu Butter

Comes from a cupuacu fruit tree which belongs to the chocolate family. It is native to the northern Amazon. Cupuacu can help improve the appearance prematurely ageing and thinning skin, and it is a fantastic moisturiser with excellent water absorption. Known as the modern plant-based alternative to lanolin and is rich in antioxidants. The butter penetrates the skin quickly while retaining moisture and effectively prevents Trans epidermal Water Loss (TEWL). Cupuacu seed butter is composed of saturated and unsaturated essential fatty acids such as Stearic acid, Oleic acid (Omega-9), Palmitic acid, Arachidic acid and Linolenic acid(Omega-3), flavonoids, vitamins C, A and B, phytosterols and minerals including calcium and selenium. The nutrients rich butter is especially favourable for mature, dry, cracked and damaged skin, as well as dry and frizzy hair.

What it does:

Excellent emollient that promotes elasticity to the skin, has anti-inflammatory properties and improves hydration, stimulates rejuvenation, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, provides antioxidant action and acts as natural suncreen by absorbing harmful UVA/UVB rays.

 

Cylindrotheca Fuciformis Extract

Is an oceanic marine alga. Algae are an interesting group of organisms which also includes seaweeds. Historically, coastal communities have not only harvested seaweeds for food but also used algae as dressings and medication.

It was Norway that started using algae in a modern way in 1937, with a company that used seaweed as a raw material to be processed. By 1942, the company was producing alginates and within 20 years, they were producing commercially available algae extracts. The company is still in production today. It is a powerful anti-wrinkle active which strongly stimulates production of structural skin proteins. It is highly concentrated in carotenoids, essential fatty acids and sterols that has an impressive effect on the skin.

Tests showed the capacity to stimulate cellular proliferation which significantly increased collagen synthesis by 19.3% using a 2% concentration in only 24 hours compared to an untreated control sample. Even when used at 0.5% there is a gradual increase collagen synthesis of 17% after 72 hours compared to untreated samples.

D Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5)

Panthenol is often called Provitamin B5.Once in the skin, it rapidly converts to vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) which is a major constituent of Coenzyme A, which has a key role in the repair mechanism of cells and tissues.

Elemi Essential Oil

A tropical tree from the Philippines that can grow up to 30 meters (98 feet). It exudes a yellow resin when leaves are sprouting. Elemi essential oil is known locally as Pili and the gum is exported from Manila. The ancient Egyptians used Elemi oil in the embalming process.

Evening Primrose - Organic

Has a long history in skincare. Native Americans used it for bruises, for various skin issues but also, they ate the roots. The oil is extracted from the seeds using cold-pressing method. The non-saponifiable portion, about 1.5–2% of the oil, contains elevated amounts of sterols, tocopherols, hydrocarbons and alcohols. Phytosterols present in Evening Primrose oil have been suggested to possess anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal activities.

Evening Primrose Co2 Extract - Organic

Evodia Rutaecarpa Fruit Extract

The fruit-bearing shoots are usually cut with scissors when the fruits have not been cracked during August to October. And then it is dried in the sun or low temperature before branches, leaves, stems and other impurities are removed.

The volatile oil of Evodia rutaecarpa fruits contains evodene, evodol, and limonin. Fruits contain evodiamine, rutaecarpine, evocarpine, Hydroxyevodiamine, wuchuyine, ocimene, evodione, evogin, rutaevin, aspartic acid, tryptophan, threonine, serine, cystine, and so on. Its function is to stimulate the extracellular release of nitric oxide in the blood vessels which dilates them and improves the microcirculation.

Faex Extract

A non-animal alternative to human or cow sourced collagen. It mimics the action of collagen but uses plant cells and imparts greater elasticity, more resilience and a youthful look to skin. It is extracted from the intra cellular matrix of yeast cells and is very effective as a collagen replacement.

The appearance of the skin is directly proportional to its ability to bind water. Helicrysum Essential Oil - Organic

Hydrolysed Lupine (Lupine) Seed Extract

It is an extract taken from the seeds of the sweet white lupin. The lupins are grown in sustainable farming projects in the South West of France and the extract is taken by using a patented bio-enzymatic process. The whole lupin plant is an important source of molecules for cosmetic and nutritional products.

Lupine Peptides is a blend of penta- and hexa- peptides that work as an MMP inhibitor. MMP stands for Matrix Metalloproteinase. MMPs action is to degrade proteins such as collagen and elastin, which are the defining features of connective tissue. This is even more active after the skin has been exposed to sunlight. Vanila CO2 Extract

What is Vanilla?

Vanilla is a member of the Orchidaceae family of plants and fits this characteristic well with its fragrant blooms. The flowers can range in color from whitish to greenish-yellow and grow to be around two inches. It gets its name from the Spanish vainilla,' meaning 'little pod or capsule.

Growing vanilla for bean cultivation is an arduous process that takes years. The vines do not flower until the third year. Even though the vine as a whole flowers over the course of two months, the flowers themselves only last for 24 hours before wilting.

The plant itself is easy to grow and can have spurts of up to an inch a day once established, but hand-pollinating is tedious.

Not only does the timing have to be perfect, but it also has to be done just right, and practice is suggested. The savings and quality can be well worth the process though.

 Is extracted without chemical solvents in a supercritical process using CO2 at high pressure but low temperature.

This is less damaging than steam distillation and the resulting extract resembles the original chemical make up of the Vanilla Bean more closely than an essential oil.  It could even be considered to contain a fuller spectrum of constituents from the plant than any essential oil.

It is warm, sweet and rich.  The aroma of vanilla has been shown to lift mood and generate feelings of wellbeing and calmness.

Vanilla has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to soothe and calm irritated skin.

Anti-bacterial.  Vanilla has been used to reduce skin infections and in wound healing.

Vanilla Bean Extract contains Vanillin, a polyphenol with powerful anti-oxidant properties.

This oil also called khus oil, is extracted from the vetiver plant, a clumpy, green grass native to India that can grow five feet high or more.

Vetiver essential oil is distilled from the vetiver plant’s roots, which are aged before being soaked in water. The highly concentrated oil that is released is then skimmed off the top of the water. It’s used in holistic practice for its soothing, grounding capabilities.

Vitamin A promotes the enzyme activity in the skin. It thickens the epidermis and can regenerate skin prematurely aged by UV-radiation. This product can also assist in increasing the skin's elasticity and the reversal of photodamage.

Wheat Germ Oil - Organic

White Poppy Seed Oil

White poppy (papaver somniferous) is a species of flowering plant in the family Papaveraceae, probably originated in the eastern Mediterranean. The ancient Minoans used opium (dried latex that is extracted from the immature seed capsules) to treat asthma, stomach problems and bad eyesight. The poppy seeds are used in bakery products as fillings of traditional pastries and cakes, in deserts or on top of dishes.
